That's a great idea about the online image archives! I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely try searching for old Hong Kong ferry photos. And yeah, going back to the pier is a good plan B. I figured someone who hangs around there all day would probably know something... It's such a weirdly specific thing to stumble upon, though. Makes you wonder what's the full story.
