Tim Ho Wan's definitely hit-or-miss. I've had incredible meals there and some...meh ones. The har gow can be inconsistent, I think it depends on the batch and even the time of day. Giving it another shot is a solid plan. Maybe try their siu mai next time, or even venture into some of their less-famous dishes – you might find a new favorite!

And yeah, contacting historical societies is a good plan B, I'll start searching for those online. Fingers crossed I find something amazing for Grandma! It would mean the world to her.
