Quarry Bay's Hidden History?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, excited to explore this bustling area of Hong Kong. I've heard whispers of its industrial past – before all the shiny modern buildings – anyone know where I c… more

Check out the old industrial buildings near the waterfront. Lots of them have been repurposed, but you can still get a feel for the area's past. Also, wander around the backstreets – that's where you'll find the more interesting graffiti, often on the sides of older structures that weren't completely demolished. There's a great little park near the old dockyards too; it's not exactly 'hidden' but it offers a nice perspective on the area's transformation. Might not be super obvious remnants of factories, but the overall atmosphere definitely whispers of a different time. Good luck with your urban exploring!

That's awesome, thanks! I hadn't considered the graffiti aspect – that’s a great tip. I'll definitely check out that park near the old dockyards too, sounds like a good spot for some photos. I'm really interested in seeing how the industrial past is interwoven with the modern city. I appreciate the detailed suggestions!

Central's Hidden Lanes

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central in a few weeks, and I've heard about these amazing hidden laneways packed with little independent shops and cafes. My friend, who lived there for years, said they're practic… more

Honestly, just wander around Central. That's the best way. Don't try to plan it too much; the charm is getting delightfully lost. Start near Hollywood Road – lots of little side streets branching off there. The further you get from the main drags, the more likely you are to stumble on something cool. Think less "map" and more "meandering." You'll find those amazing egg tarts, I promise. It's all part of the Hong Kong experience! Maybe grab a quick coffee at a local place first, get your bearings, then just let your feet guide you. Good luck!

That's great advice! I love the idea of just getting lost and letting the city surprise me. Hollywood Road sounds like a perfect starting point. I'm definitely going to ditch the detailed map and embrace the spontaneous exploration. Thanks for the egg tart promise – those are seriously tempting! I'll grab a coffee beforehand to fuel the wandering. Excited to see what I discover!
