Finding MingGarden's Secret?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally ate at MingGarden Restaurant, that place everyone raves about in @HongKong. The food was amazing, seriously top-notch dim sum. But I couldn't find the rumored secret menu! Apparently, th… more

Yeah, that's a total Hong Kong thing. Some places really play that "secret menu" card. My guess? It's probably not a formal secret menu, more like a case of "regulars get the inside scoop". They probably just suggest things based on what's fresh, or have a few off-menu dishes they only offer to people they know are familiar with their style. Next time, try chatting up the staff – be friendly, compliment the food enthusiastically, maybe even order something unusual first. See if you can get them talking. Sometimes a little genuine connection gets you further than any whispered passwords. Good luck on your next dim sum adventure!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
