ICC's Highest Restaurant?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I finally made it to the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as the locals call it. The view from the observation deck was insane, seriously breathtaking. But I was hoping to grab dinner at one… more

Oof, the ICC! Yeah, the view's killer. Finding English menus up there can be a nightmare. Most of the top-floor restaurants are seriously high-end Cantonese – think Michelin-star levels of fancy and pricey. You’re likely looking at dim sum, seafood extravaganzas, Peking duck (maybe), and other traditional Cantonese dishes, but expect modern twists. Your best bet is to check their websites again but use Google Translate's image function on the menus. It's imperfect, but better than nothing. Otherwise, prepare for a culinary leap of faith! Good luck and bon appétit!

Haha, yeah, that culinary leap of faith sounds about right! I figured it wouldn't be your average burger joint. Thanks for the Google Translate tip – I hadn't thought of that, would've been staring blankly at a menu full of characters I don't understand. Michelin-star Cantonese... well, at least it'll be an experience! Appreciate the heads-up.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Conundrum

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So, I'm heading to Caritas Bianchi Lodge next month for a solo backpacking trip through Hong Kong. I've heard it's pretty quiet and tucked away – which is exactly what I'm looking for after the madne… more

Nah, you'll be fine. Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a bit out of the way, but that's half the fun, right? Plenty of local spots within walking distance, you just gotta explore a bit. Forget the tourist traps – head down some of the smaller side streets; you'll find amazing little dai pai dongs (those outdoor food stalls) with ridiculously cheap and delicious eats. Think noodles, dumplings, all sorts of amazing stuff for next to nothing. It's all about getting a little lost and stumbling upon the gems. Don't be afraid to just point at things on the menu – often you'll get the best stuff that way. You'll eat like a king for a fraction of the price of those fancy places. Enjoy your trip!
