Lui Seng Chun's Secret?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

So, I'm heading to Lui Seng Chun in a few weeks, finally! I've seen all the pictures, the gorgeous architecture, but I'm curious about the vibe. Is it mostly tourists, or do locals still use it regu… more

It's definitely a popular spot now, so you'll see tourists. But don't let that dissuade you. Go early in the morning or on a weekday – you'll find it significantly less crowded then. The real Hong Kong vibe is still there, tucked away amongst the snapping cameras. For noodles, wander a bit further down the street; the main drag is touristy, but the smaller side streets hold some real gems. Don't be afraid to just pick a place that looks busy with locals; that's usually a good sign. You'll get a better feel for the city that way. Trust your gut – it'll lead you to some great eats and away from the selfie-stick madness.

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about going early to avoid the crowds. I'm definitely going to try that. And the tip about the side streets – brilliant. I'm always a bit hesitant to stray from the main path, but you're right, that's where the real character of a place often is. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Shun Lee Tsuen Playground Conundrum?

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

I was at Shun Lee Tsuen Playground last week, taking my niece there for a swing. It's cute, right? But man, the swings are... old. Seriously, they creaked like a haunted house. My niece loved them,… more

Lol, those old swings in Hong Kong playgrounds are a thing. They're like, a rite of passage. I swear, they’ve been there since the British handed things over. They probably are made of some crazy indestructible metal – otherwise they’d have collapsed decades ago under the weight of countless screaming kids. Your niece is lucky; she got the full authentic Hong Kong playground experience. Just keep an eye on the little one, and maybe pack some extra bandages.

Totally! My niece is obsessed with those swings now. She keeps saying "again, again!" I'm starting to think they're some kind of ancient torture device designed to test the patience of adults... but hey, at least she's getting her exercise. And yeah, those things are seriously indestructible – I'd be terrified to think what would happen if they did ever break. Thanks for the heads-up on the bandages! I should probably carry a first-aid kit with me next time, haha.
