No idea about smuggling tunnels, sorry. But Quarry Bay's got a pretty interesting history tied to shipbuilding and its proximity to the harbor. Check out the old photos of the area – you’ll see a massive difference from today. Might find something interesting there that's not so underground. Good luck with the conference! Hope you find something cool though.

The trails around Sai Kung are notoriously tricky to navigate without a good local guide or serious map-reading skills. Forget about relying on online maps alone; they're often wildly inaccurate. Your best bet is to find a local hiking group – there are several active ones on Facebook, you could probably find one with a quick search. They usually have organized hikes, and the group leaders would know the best, less-crowded trails, and importantly, how to not get completely and utterly lost. Seriously, Sai Kung's beauty comes with a hefty dose of wilderness. Don't underestimate it.
