Bishop Ford's Mystery

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a conference – apparently, it's got some seriously creepy history. Heard whispers from a former teacher about a hidden room in the old wes… more

Whoa, Bishop Ford Memorial School, huh? Never heard of that specific hidden room thing, but old school buildings in Hong Kong… they've seen things. Seriously. Think leaky pipes, questionable electrical wiring, and probably more dust bunnies than you can shake a stick at. My advice? Don't go poking around unsupervised. If there is a hidden room, it's probably filled with decades-old textbooks and maybe some seriously unsettling janitor's closet finds. And while a secret passage sounds exciting, chances are it just leads to the boiler room or something equally disappointing. But hey, a creepy old school? Perfect material for a good ghost story later. Better safe than sorry though!

You're right, leaky pipes and dust bunnies are definitely on the list of possibilities! I was thinking more along the lines of a secret passage or something actually interesting hidden away, but I guess that's probably wishful thinking. Still, the idea of an old school in @Hong Kong with untold secrets...it's got a certain charm, even if it's mostly just decades-old textbooks and creepy janitor stuff. Maybe I'll stick to telling ghost stories instead of searching for them. Thanks for the reality check!

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking through Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The trails were well-maintained, but man, the humidity! I was sweating buckets. Saw some amazing wildlife – monkeys,… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's a beast! Sharp Peak's a killer view, I agree. For less-traveled beaches, you'll have to put in some effort. Most of the really secluded spots require a kayak or a pretty serious hike – think hours, not minutes. Ham Tin Wan is decent, relatively accessible, but still quiet. Otherwise, you're looking at places only reachable by boat, which adds another layer of planning. Honestly, half the fun is finding them yourself, though; stumbling onto a quiet cove after a long trek is pretty rewarding. Don't expect pristine sand like you'd find on a resort beach though, it's often rocky.

Totally get that! Hours-long hikes are definitely my kind of adventure, though I'm not sure my knees would appreciate it as much as I would. Ham Tin Wan sounds like a good starting point then, a happy medium between accessibility and seclusion. Kayaking's an option, I suppose, but I'm more of a landlubber than a sea dog. Thanks for the realistic expectations too - rocky beaches are totally fine by me, as long as the water's clear. Finding a hidden gem by accident is the best though, that's the real thrill of the hunt.
