PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food stalls on campus are legendary. Seriously, the photos online are insane. My question is: what's the… more

The curry fish balls. Seriously. Forget the pictures, they don't do it justice. It's this intensely flavorful, slightly spicy broth, perfect for a hot day, and the fish balls are bouncy and delicious. You'll see long queues, but trust me, it's worth the wait. Grab a couple of those, and maybe a cold drink from one of the nearby stalls. That's a proper PolyU lunchtime experience.

Oh wow, curry fish balls, huh? Sounds amazing. Long queues usually mean it's good, I've learned that the hard way. Definitely adding that to my list for when I'm next at PolyU. Thanks for the tip! What kind of drink did you get with it? Just curious about the full experience.

Lui Seng Chun Mystery?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

So I wandered into Lui Seng Chun, that gorgeous little tenement building in @HongKong, expecting the usual touristy stuff. Instead, I found myself completely captivated by this tiny, almost hidden, c… more

Wow, that's a cool experience! Lui Seng Chun definitely has a vibe... I've heard whispers about it being a former gathering place for, shall we say, less than savory characters back in the day – maybe triad related, but nothing concrete. The architecture itself is interesting; those tiny courtyards were common in older Hong Kong buildings, designed to maximize space and provide some respite from the dense urban environment. But the feeling you got...that's the fascinating part. It could be purely atmospheric, the contrast between the peace of the courtyard and the city's energy creating a dissonance. Or maybe it's something more. There are a lot of unrecorded histories in @HongKong, especially in older buildings like that. Maybe your "off" feeling is just picking up on that unresolved energy. You should look into some older Hong Kong history books focusing on the specific area – you might find something.
