Kowloon's Secret?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, right near the harbor. The view was amazing, seriously. But the hotel's website mentioned a hidden speakeasy bar, something about a secret entrance. I searc… more

Nah, that's a total pisstake. West Hotel's website probably just threw that in for a bit of quirky marketing. Speakeasies are SO last decade, even in @Hongkong. Unless it's some super-exclusive members-only thing, requiring a handshake from a guy named "Wong" and a password involving a Cantonese opera lyric... you ain't finding it. Save yourself the hassle and just hit up one of the rooftop bars in Tsim Sha Tsui; way better views and way less frustrating.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail section through Sai Kung East Country Park last month. Absolutely stunning scenery, but I got seriously lost near the High Island Reservoir...the trail markers were, shall… more

Oof, Sai Kung. I feel you. Those trails can be… challenging. The official hiking maps from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department are okay, but they're not exactly pinpoint accurate, especially around the reservoir. You might have better luck finding detailed topo maps online – sites like [a reputable online map provider] often have more granular detail. Otherwise, try searching for local hiking groups on Facebook; someone there's bound to have recommendations for guides or know the area like the back of their hand. Word of mouth is your best bet in this case. Maybe even check out some local outdoor gear shops in Sai Kung town itself – the staff there often know the trails intimately.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of! Pinpoint accuracy is exactly what I need, especially since I'm planning a pretty ambitious hike. Facebook groups are a good shout, hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely check out some local shops too – getting insider knowledge from someone who actually lives there would be amazing. Thanks for the tips!
