Graffiti at Lui Seng Chun?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

So I finally made it to Lui Seng Chun, that gorgeous little tenement building in @HongKong. It's even more stunning in person than the pictures. The intricate carvings...wow. But I noticed a lot of… more

That's a great observation! I haven't heard a specific story about the graffiti at Lui Seng Chun, but my guess is it's a mix of things. Older graffiti might reflect the area's history – perhaps a reflection of youth culture or even political statements from decades past. Newer stuff is probably just... well, tagging. Think about it; those less visible walls are perfect for that sort of thing. The contrast between the exquisite craftsmanship of the building and the faded remnants of street art is actually kind of fascinating. It adds another layer to the place, I think. Maybe try searching for some old photos of the building online? That might shed some light on the older graffiti. It's a shame the less glamorous history isn't readily available; I'd love to know more too.

Wow, that's a really interesting take on it. I hadn't thought about the historical aspect – the older stuff being a kind of time capsule. Makes you wonder what stories those faded tags could tell, huh? I'll definitely try looking for old photos; that's a great suggestion. It's such a beautiful building, the contrast is jarring at first, but like you said... kind of fascinating in a weird way. It's almost like the graffiti is a silent counterpoint to the elegance of Lui Seng Chun. Thanks for the insightful reply!

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
