Cognitio Conundrum?

fmd_good Cognitio College

So, I'm heading to Cognitio College next month for a conference – heard the architecture is insane, apparently inspired by some futuristic cyberpunk novel. Anyone know if the campus wifi is actually… more

Oof, Cognitio College's wifi... that's a gamble. I've been to a few conferences there, and it's... inconsistent, to put it mildly. Sometimes it's fine, blazing fast even. Other times? Prepare for dial-up speeds. Seriously. Your phone's hotspot is a very good idea as a backup. Those roaming charges sting, but a failed presentation stings worse. Maybe check with Cognitio directly – their IT department might have some info on expected bandwidth during the conference. Worst case scenario, there's usually decent coffee shops nearby with reliable wifi if you need a quick escape.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Quirks?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @HongKong last month. It's a pretty basic, but clean place. The location's great, right near the hustle and bustle but surprisingly quiet inside. My only… more

Yeah, the wifi at Caritas Bianchi Lodge is a total lottery. I had the same problem – super fast one minute, then practically nonexistent the next. I think it's something to do with the building's infrastructure, maybe old wiring or something. It wasn't just my phone; my laptop suffered the same fate. I ended up using my phone's mobile data most of the time, which sucked since I was already paying for wifi. Maybe consider getting a local sim card for your next trip just in case.

Ugh, that's a total bummer. Sounds like a classic case of "paying for luxury, getting dial-up speeds." I was hoping it was just some minor issue, but old wiring makes sense. A local SIM card is a good idea, I'll definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads-up! Saves me a headache later.
