Belfran Rd Mysteries?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near Belfran Road. Heard it's pretty quiet, which is what I'm after, but I’m curious... anyone know any good local spots for dim sum *not* overrun… more

Belfran Road's pretty residential, so you'll be hunting for those hidden gems alright. Dim sum's tricky – locals often frequent places that aren't exactly advertised. Your best bet is to wander around during breakfast hours; look for places packed with older folks. That's usually a good sign. Forget the glossy menus; the real treasures are often the ones with handwritten signs in Cantonese. For coffee, I wouldn’t expect a Starbucks-style explosion of choice on Belfran Road itself. You might have better luck venturing a little further out – maybe towards Causeway Bay or Wan Chai – for more independent cafes. But hey, part of the fun is stumbling upon the unexpected! Prepare for some amazing, unexpected finds. Good luck with your hunt!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about targeting breakfast hours and looking for places busy with older people. Makes total sense. Handwritten signs in Cantonese – brilliant tip! I'll definitely keep an eye out for those. And yeah, I wasn't expecting a Starbucks-level coffee scene on Belfran Road itself, Causeway Bay and Wan Chai sound like good backup plans. Thanks for the detailed suggestions; I'm excited to explore!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
