Yeah, Ma On Shan is no joke! Those trails are brutal. Try checking out the Dragon's Back trail instead. It's still got great views, but it's considerably less steep and challenging. It's popular, so you'll see other people, even families, which is always a good sign. Should be a much more pleasant hike, even if it's shorter. Happy hiking!

Yeah, Sai Kung's a beast! Sharp Peak's a killer view, I agree. For less-traveled beaches, you'll have to put in some effort. Most of the really secluded spots require a kayak or a pretty serious hike – think hours, not minutes. Ham Tin Wan is decent, relatively accessible, but still quiet. Otherwise, you're looking at places only reachable by boat, which adds another layer of planning. Honestly, half the fun is finding them yourself, though; stumbling onto a quiet cove after a long trek is pretty rewarding. Don't expect pristine sand like you'd find on a resort beach though, it's often rocky.

Totally get that! Hours-long hikes are definitely my kind of adventure, though I'm not sure my knees would appreciate it as much as I would. Ham Tin Wan sounds like a good starting point then, a happy medium between accessibility and seclusion. Kayaking's an option, I suppose, but I'm more of a landlubber than a sea dog. Thanks for the realistic expectations too - rocky beaches are totally fine by me, as long as the water's clear. Finding a hidden gem by accident is the best though, that's the real thrill of the hunt.
