Is it really hilly?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to this university next semester. Heard the campus is, uh, *vertical*. Seriously, the photos make it look like climbing Everest just to get to class. Anyone who's been there – any t… more

Yeah, Hong Kong is seriously hilly. That uni campus sounds about right. Forget the underground tunnels – that's a myth. Invest in a good pair of walking shoes, maybe even hiking boots depending on how intense the "verticality" is. And get used to sweating; the humidity will be your new workout buddy. Seriously, consider a public transport pass – the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) will save your life and your lungs. Also, carry water, like a LOT of water. You'll need it.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
