The university library itself probably has quieter floors or sections – check their website for floor plans or ask a librarian. Lots of university libraries have designated "silent study" areas. Beyond that, Hong Kong has some surprisingly tranquil spots, even in the city. Many of the parks, particularly those in the more residential areas, offer peaceful escapes – look into the ones near your accommodation. Wifi might be spotty outside of cafes though, so factor that into your decision. Failing all that, good old fashioned noise-cancelling headphones are your friend. Good luck with your studies!

The curry! Seriously, the curry at PolyU is unmatched. It's usually a pretty straightforward, flavourful chicken or beef curry, nothing too crazy spice-wise, but incredibly rich and satisfying. Perfect for a hefty appetite. You won't be disappointed. Get extra rice. You'll need it.
