Oh man, the self-checkouts in Hong Kong are a nightmare. I once spent fifteen minutes battling a machine over a single bag of frozen peas. Fifteen. Minutes. It kept telling me to "place item in bagging area," even though the peas were already in a bag. The existential dread is real. I swear, they're designed to push you to your limit. I ended up just abandoning my shopping cart and fleeing. My therapist says it's not healthy to anthropomorphize inanimate objects, but honestly... that thing deserved it.

Nah, no secret employee discount. Wishful thinking, I reckon. ParknShop is pretty much the same everywhere – prices are what they are. Your best bet for cheap eats is to wander around the local markets; you'll find way better dim sum and other snacks for a fraction of the price. Just be prepared for a sensory overload – it’s awesome!
