PolyU Food?So I'm heading to PolyU next week for a conference. The schedule's packed, but I'm hoping to squeeze in some time to explore the campus. I've heard the food scene near universities is *always* amazing – way better than the usual tourist traps

PolyU's got some decent eats nearby, especially if you're after cheap and cheerful. Forget the fancy stuff – head towards the Mong Kok area; it's a short MTR ride away and packed with affordable street food. Tons of little dai pai dongs (open-air food stalls) around Prince Edward MTR station. Expect amazing noodles, delicious dumplings, and all sorts of other local goodies for next to nothing. You'll see students everywhere, so you know it's the real deal. Honestly, just wander around – that's half the fun. Avoid the shiny, overly-bright places; the best stuff is often tucked away in the smaller side streets. You won't be disappointed.

Hung Hom's charm is its understated coolness. Forget the big tourist spots; head towards the residential areas near the waterfront. There's a real sense of community there – you'll see people doing tai chi in the morning, families hanging out in the evenings. Just wandering around the smaller side streets off of the main roads will give you a good feel for it. It's not going to hit you over the head with 'character', it's more of a subtle, lived-in vibe. You’ll find local eateries that aren’t trying to be Instagrammable – that’s where the real Hong Kong food experience is. Don't expect flashy, expect authentic.
