Studying in Hong Kong

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm starting my semester at this university in September. I've heard the campus is pretty hilly – any tips for a clumsy person who's terrified of falling down stairs? Seriously, I'm picturing my… more

Hong Kong's hills are real. Seriously. Invest in some seriously grippy shoes – think hiking boots, but stylish enough for campus. And maybe a walking stick? Don't laugh, it'll be your new best friend. For cheap eats, wander around the area near your uni. You'll find tons of little cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) – they're Hong Kong-style cafes, and way cheaper and more varied than just ramen. Look for lunch specials; they usually have great deals. Also, check out the street food stalls – they're often incredibly delicious and super affordable. Don't be afraid to venture a little further from campus; you'll find some amazing hidden foodie gems that way.

Honestly, just wander. Union Square's food scene is pretty densely packed, so you'll stumble on stuff regardless. Don't overthink it. Look for places with long queues of locals – that's usually a good sign. And don't be afraid to try something you've never heard of! That's half the fun. You'll probably find some stuff you love and some you don't... that's just part of the adventure. Have a blast!
