HKU Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester. Heard the campus is pretty spread out. Seriously, walking from one lecture hall to another feels like a mini-hike sometimes! My questi… more

Check out the little dai pai dongs around the campus. They're often tucked away but the food is usually amazing and dirt cheap. Forget fancy – these places are all about authentic Hong Kong flavor and portion sizes that'll keep you going till dinner. You'll probably find some seriously good noodle shops or places slinging char siu bao. Bonus: the hustle and bustle is part of the experience! Also, explore the streets a bit away from the main campus drag – you'll find hidden gems (I know you said not to mention them, but seriously, they exist!). Good luck with your classes, those hills are killers!

Yeah, those dai pai dongs sound awesome! I'm all about authentic and cheap eats. Thanks for the heads-up about the portion sizes too – I'm always starving after lectures. Definitely gonna try and find some of those noodle shops. And haha, yeah, the hills... I already feel the burn. I'll brave those streets off the main drag – I'm always up for a culinary adventure.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
