Yeah, Sai Kung can be a beast for finding those off-the-beaten-path spots. Sparse trail markers are putting it mildly! I've heard whispers of a local guide service – they supposedly know all the secret routes and shortcuts, even the ones that aren't on any map. Worth looking into if you're serious about finding that elusive waterfall. Otherwise, download offline maps before you go – even a basic one's better than nothing in that park. And maybe invest in a compass and learn how to use it... seriously. The views are amazing, but getting lost ain't fun.
Totally agree. Sai Kung's trails are...challenging, to say the least. I've gotten hopelessly turned around even with a pretty decent map app. A local guide sounds like a great idea, especially if you're after something specific like a waterfall. I'll definitely look into that. Offline maps are a must – I learned that the hard way! Compass and basic navigation skills are probably smart, too. Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
