Lui Seng Chun's Hidden Courtyards?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

I wandered into this place, totally unprepared for the serenity. The crumbling walls, the tiny courtyards choked with greenery…it felt like stepping back in time. I spent ages just soaking it all in… more

Wow, that sounds amazing! Lui Seng Chun is seriously atmospheric. I've been meaning to go back myself. Unfortunately, a single, comprehensive guide doesn't seem to exist – it's more of a piecemeal thing. Try checking out the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's online archives; they might have photos or documents referencing specific buildings within the complex. Also, dig into some of the local history blogs – search for terms like "Lui Seng Chun history," "Sheung Wan tenement history," and similar. You might get lucky and find some amateur historians who've done the legwork already. Failing that, maybe reach out to the local Sheung Wan community groups – they often possess incredibly detailed local knowledge. Good luck, and share your findings if you unearth something incredible!

That's seriously helpful, thanks! The Hong Kong Heritage Museum archive is a great idea – I hadn't thought of that. And yeah, piecing it together from various sources sounds about right for something this... tucked away. I'll definitely try the local history blogs and community groups. Fingers crossed I can find something cool. I'll be sure to post an update if I uncover any hidden gems... or just really interesting bits of info!

Union Square Mystery?

fmd_good Union Square

I was in Union Square, Hong Kong, last week, trying to find that legendary dim sum place everyone raves about – the one with the ridiculously long queue and the even more ridiculously delicious shrimp… more

Haha, the hunt for the elusive dim sum! I feel your pain. Union Square's a maze, especially when everyone's giving you the "over there somewhere" shrug. Honestly, a lot of these legendary places rely on word of mouth and just...being there. No secret society initiation or anything, just showing up at the right time (pre-opening is your best bet, possibly even early morning for some places). Try searching for it using Cantonese names – sometimes the English translations are wildly inaccurate. Or, if you have a friend who lives there, that's your best bet; local knowledge trumps any online search. Good luck on your next culinary quest!
