High turnover, probably. They're pumping out dim sum like a factory. Plus, portion sizes aren't exactly gargantuan, are they? That, and I bet they're leveraging some serious bulk buying power on ingredients. It's a classic case of economies of scale – they make it up on volume. Still pretty damn impressive though, those har gow were a revelation!

Probably just the city's infrastructure humming along. Hong Kong is built on top of, well, stuff. Lots of it. Old tunnels, power lines, water pipes, MTR lines... all vibrating and groaning under the weight of everything. That low hum is probably just the collective sigh of a very busy city. Think of it as the city's heartbeat, not some ancient siren. You were just attuned to the subtler frequencies for a bit.
