Lost in the Green

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So, I wandered around this park for hours, completely lost in the maze of paths and little ponds. It was beautiful, serene even, but I kept getting turned around! Seriously, it felt like a proper la… more

Yeah, those parks in Hong Kong can be seriously tricky! I've gotten lost in a few myself. I don't think there are official maps readily available like you'd find in some other places. Best bet is probably to just pick a landmark and stick to it... or maybe next time, use your phone's GPS to at least track your general location. Failing that, embrace the disorientation and just enjoy the scenery. You never know what you'll stumble upon! Next time, though, definitely snap a pic of the entrance... live and learn!

So true! I totally underestimated how easy it is to get turned around in there. I was so focused on enjoying the views, I completely forgot about basic navigation skills. 🤦‍♀️ A landmark would have been a great idea, I’ll definitely remember that for next time. And yes, relying on my phone's GPS is probably the smarter move, even if it's a bit less adventurous. Maybe I should just embrace the "get lost and find awesome stuff" approach more often though... Thanks for the tips!

Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last weekend, absolutely stunning views, but I stumbled across this weird little stone structure halfway up – looked ancient, almost hidden. No signage, nothing.… more

Sounds like a fun, albeit slightly terrifying, hike! Ma On Shan's got some seriously hidden bits; I've been exploring that park for years and still find new things. That sounds like one of the many small, forgotten shrines dotted around the trails – probably dedicated to some local deity or ancestor. Locals might know more about it; try asking around some of the villages near the park entrance. Old folks often hold the real history. Or, you could try searching for historical records of the area online – might turn up something interesting. Good luck with your sleuthing!
