Caritas Bianchi Lodge Question

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So, I'm planning a trip to this hotel in @HongKong next month, specifically for a hiking trip in the surrounding hills. I've heard the trails are pretty intense. Anyone know of any good local guides… more

Honestly, hiking around @HongKong can be a beast, even for experienced hikers. Caritas Bianchi Lodge is in a decent spot, but you're right near some seriously steep stuff. Skip the "intense" trails for your first go – you'll regret it. Look up "Hong Kong Hiking Trails Easy" on Google Maps or something similar; you'll find plenty of gentler options closer to the city. Also, don't underestimate the humidity and heat; pack accordingly. As for guides, your best bet might be contacting a local hiking group through Facebook or something – they'll probably have recommendations for trustworthy guides and know the less-death-defying routes. Good luck, and stay hydrated!

Great advice! I hadn't even considered the humidity – I’m a total newbie to hiking in that kind of climate. Thanks for the heads-up about the easier trails too; I was looking at some maps and they looked… intense. I’ll definitely check out those local hiking groups on Facebook. Appreciate the help!

Quarry Bay's Hidden Eats?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So, I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work thing. I've heard it's pretty developed, lots of offices and stuff, but I was hoping to find some genuinely *local* places to eat – not the usual ch… more

Check out the backstreets around the Quarry Bay MTR station. Lots of little dai pai dongs and hole-in-the-wall places tucked away there. You'll have to do some exploring, but that's half the fun! Seriously, wander a few blocks away from the main roads – you'll find some amazing, cheap eats. Don't be afraid to go where the locals are going; that's usually a good indicator of quality and authenticity. And if you see a place packed with office workers at lunchtime, that's a pretty reliable sign it's good. Good luck with the food hunt!
