Finding decent durian here?

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So I'm in this massive supermarket, right? It's got everything, seriously EVERYTHING. Like, I saw more types of instant noodles than I've had hot meals this year. But I’m on a mission: to find a go… more

Nah, you didn't miss anything. Hong Kong's durian game is... inconsistent, to put it mildly. Supermarkets here generally prioritize more mainstream fruits. Your best bet is hitting up a wet market – those smaller, more local fruit stalls often have better, fresher, and more interesting selections, including durian (if they're in season). Check out Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po; those areas are known for having some really good wet markets. Don't expect a huge selection, but your chances of finding something decent are way higher than in a massive supermarket. Good luck with your durian quest!

Thanks! That's super helpful. I figured the supermarkets wouldn't be the place. Wet markets sound like exactly what I need to try. Mong Kok and Sham Shui Po, got it. Fingers crossed I find some creamy, pungent goodness! Appreciate the tips!

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
