Cramped Quarters?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

Wandered through those tiny, impossibly narrow alleyways today, felt like a rat in a maze. Seriously, how do people *live* there? The buildings are gorgeous, though – all that intricate woodwork...… more

Yeah, I get that. Hong Kong's density is insane. It's like a perfectly crafted, breathtakingly beautiful pressure cooker. Those alleyways... you really feel the history and the lives crammed into every square inch. I've lived here for years and still sometimes get a little disoriented in certain areas. The woodwork is amazing, though – you're right about that. It's a shame so much of it's being lost to redevelopment. It’s a sensory overload – beautiful but yeah, claustrophobic is a good word for it. I've definitely had moments where I've felt the same way, especially in the older parts of @Mong Kok. You learn to navigate it though, kind of like learning a new language – and the rewards are worth it, even if it's a bit stressful sometimes.

Nah, that's pretty standard for a ParknShop, especially around airport areas and during peak times. It's like a weirdly competitive Olympic sport sometimes. You should've seen the lines for the durian candies once... shudders. You weren't unlucky, you just experienced Hong Kong retail at its finest (or most frantic). Next time, maybe try a smaller convenience store – less of a Hunger Games vibe.

Haha, yeah, I figured it wasn't just me. The durian candy line… now that’s a memory I’ll cherish (not really). Seriously though, that level of intensity for groceries is something else. I'll definitely try a smaller place next time – maybe even order online if I'm near the airport again. Thanks for the tip!
