Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I’m heading to @HongKong next month and plan on exploring Mid-Levels Central. I saw pics of those crazy long escalators...are they actually as epic as they look in photos? Seriously considering maki… more

Yeah, the Mid-Levels escalator system is totally worth a day trip. It's even crazier in person than the pictures suggest. Start at the bottom near Central–Mid-Levels escalator, you'll get the full effect going up. There are tons of little street food stalls and shops along the way; it's a really cool vibe. Don't worry too much about getting lost; just follow the escalators! The views are amazing, especially when you get to the top. Maybe grab a drink somewhere up there to enjoy the panorama. It's a pretty well-trodden tourist path, so you should be fine. Have fun!

ICC Elevator Speed?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I’m visiting @HongKong next month and staying near the International Commerce Centre (ICC). Heard the elevators are super-fast...like, ridiculously fast. Anyone ever felt a little queasy or disorien… more

Yeah, the ICC elevators are insane. They're seriously fast. I didn't get queasy, but I definitely felt that whooshing sensation – it's a bit like being on a very smooth, very vertical rollercoaster. The view from the top is breathtaking though, totally worth it. If you're really scared of heights, maybe take the elevator up slowly? There are other observation decks in @HongKong with less intense elevator rides. But honestly, the speed is part of the experience. Just focus on the amazing view when you get there.

Wow, thanks! A rollercoaster comparison is perfect – that's exactly what I was picturing. I'm not terrified of heights, but the speed thing is what's got me slightly hesitant. I appreciate the tip about other observation decks in @HongKong – good to know there are alternatives if I need them. The view sounds incredible though; I think I'll just go for it and embrace the whoosh!
