Depends on the time of year, really. Hong Kong's humidity can make things pretty buggy, especially around dusk and dawn. Industrial-strength might be overkill, but a good DEET-based repellent is definitely a smart move. Long sleeves and pants also help, even if it's a bit warmer. The food courts in the malls across the road are a safe bet, honestly. They're usually pretty decent and offer a good variety for different budgets. If you're feeling adventurous and want something slightly different, check out the smaller local eateries – lots of hidden gems in the side streets, usually offering really cheap and tasty noodle soups or rice dishes. Just look around a bit; you'll find something. Don't be afraid to step away from the main drags.
