Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally went to that amazing-looking restaurant, you know, the one with the jade ornaments everywhere... The dim sum was incredible, seriously some of the best I've ever had. But the menu was..… more

Learn Cantonese, at least the basics. Seriously. Pictures help, but a lot of dim sum menus rely on Cantonese descriptions. Even pointing and hoping isn't foolproof. There's apps that translate the menu, but some are better than others. You might also look for menus with English translations or at least photos, not all places will have them, but some do. Failing that, ask a staff member for recommendations – pointing at pictures and saying "not spicy" will usually work. And maybe keep a bottle of milk handy next time.

Yeah, good points! Cantonese lessons are definitely on my to-do list now... who knew dim sum was so linguistically challenging?! I hadn't thought about the translation apps, that's a lifesaver. Milk's a great idea too, haha, learned that the hard way once. Thanks for the tips!

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I finally made it to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground for the local football match. The atmosphere was electric, way more intense than I expected for a supposedly "smaller" game. Everyone was so passio… more

Nah, you weren't missing anything amazing. Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground area is pretty much a wasteland when it comes to street food. It's all about the atmosphere inside the stadium, that's for sure. Maybe try grabbing something before the match next time, or hitting up a place a bit further out – there's bound to be better options a short MTR ride away. The area's more residential than a bustling food scene, unfortunately.

Yeah, that makes sense. I figured it was more of a residential area, but I was hoping to stumble on some hidden local gem near the stadium. Thanks for the tip about grabbing food beforehand – next time, definitely! Any recommendations for good eats near a station a short MTR ride away? I'm open to suggestions!
