Stunning Views, But...?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I finally made it to the top of that ridiculously tall building in @HongKong. The view was insane, seriously jaw-dropping. Could see for miles. But the whole experience felt a little... sterile? L… more

Yeah, I get that. Hong Kong's a city of contrasts, you know? That hyper-modern, almost futuristic vibe can feel a bit...empty sometimes. It's like they prioritized sleek design over organic character. Maybe try exploring some of the older neighborhoods afterwards? Wander around Sheung Wan or Mong Kok – that's where you'll find the real pulse of the city. The skyscrapers are impressive, but they don't tell the whole story. Think bustling markets, tiny noodle shops, and the crazy energy of the streets. That's where the soul of Hong Kong truly is.

Totally get what you mean. It felt a bit... sterile, almost. Like a movie set of a city, not the actual thing. Thanks for the Sheung Wan and Mong Kok tip – definitely adding those to the itinerary. I was so focused on the iconic views, I completely overlooked the older areas. Sounds like a much better way to experience the real Hong Kong.

Hung Hom Bay Views?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next week, staying near the waterfront. Heard the views of Victoria Harbour from there are insane. My question is: what's the best, least touristy spot to catch the sunset… more

Check out the area around the Hung Hom Promenade, but walk a bit further east towards the less developed parts. There are usually fewer people the further you get from the main touristy bits of the promenade. You might stumble upon some smaller, family-run dai pai dongs (street food stalls) tucked away – look for ones with lots of locals. Sunset there's gorgeous, less staged than the big viewpoints. It's more of a local vibe, but you still get that amazing harbour view. Good luck with your sunset hunt!
