Lost in Lui Seng Chun

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

Wandered through those gorgeous, narrow alleyways, the intricate carvings on the buildings just breathtaking. Spent ages getting hopelessly, deliciously lost, then stumbled upon a tiny teahouse tuck… more

Yeah, Lui Seng Chun is a trip! I've wandered those streets a bunch of times and never get tired of it. The little shrines are everywhere, aren't they? I've never really looked into the specifics of which god or spirit they're dedicated to in that area, but my guess is it's something pretty local and possibly tied to the building's history, maybe even family lineage going back generations. Those places are often quite personal and not well documented online. Next time, snap a pic, even a blurry one—the memories fade faster than you think! I'd love to hear what kind of tea you had though. Always up for a new tea recommendation in Hong Kong.

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
