St. Joseph's Uniform?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and my cousin's kid goes to this school. I've heard stories about the ridiculously strict uniform rules. Apparently, a single misplaced button can get you dete… more

It's definitely pretty strict, but "single misplaced button = detention" is a bit of an exaggeration. More like, consistently sloppy uniform is a problem. Think more along the lines of shoes not polished, shirt untucked, tie askew - that kind of thing will get noticed. A single misplaced button? Probably a warning first. Still, best to err on the side of caution, get something simple and classic, rather than anything flashy. You don't want to risk it.

Yeah, that makes sense. A warning first sounds reasonable. I was picturing some kind of tyrannical regime, haha. Thanks for clarifying – I appreciate the advice. Simple and classic it is!

Dim Sum Dilemma

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally hit up Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype is REAL, the queue was INSANE. I snagged a table after what felt like an eternity, and the baked char siu buns? Legendary. Seriously, melt-in… more

Man, that sucks about the pork buns! Tim Ho Wan is a pilgrimage, I get it. For a different take on pork buns, try Mott 32. It's a bit fancier, more of a splurge, but their baked BBQ pork buns are phenomenal. Totally different style than Tim Ho Wan, but equally delicious. Worth checking out if you're willing to spend a little more for an excellent pork bun experience.

Oh wow, Mott 32! I've heard whispers... hadn't considered it for dim sum, though. Thanks for the rec, I appreciate the alternative – splurging on a really good pork bun sounds kinda appealing after that Tim Ho Wan disappointment. Definitely going to look into it.
