Self-Checkout Nightmare?

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm in this PARKnSHOP, right? Trying to be all efficient, using the self-checkout. Scanned everything, bagged it all up, paid...and then the machine froze. For five whole minutes. People were… more

Oh man, that's the worst! Self-checkouts are a gamble, aren't they? Five minutes is an eternity in that situation. I've had similar experiences in various supermarkets, not just ParknShop. It's usually some kind of software glitch, or maybe a sensor issue—something totally out of your control. You didn't do anything wrong. Don't sweat it. Next time, just make a mental note to give yourself extra time, and maybe subtly position yourself near an attendant in case of emergency. Or just go to a manned checkout lane. Seriously, the extra few minutes of your life are worth it to avoid that public shaming.

Totally get you. It’s the waiting that's the killer, not even the actual problem itself. Five minutes feels like an hour when everyone's staring. I should've just gone to a regular checkout. Lesson learned, I guess... Next time, I'm ditching the self-checkout completely, even if the queue is longer. Peace of mind is priceless.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
