St. Joseph's PTA Bake Sale?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm volunteering at my kid's school in @HongKong – St. Joseph's – for their annual PTA bake sale. It's insane! Hundreds of parents, all vying for the best egg tarts. Seriously, people are *brut… more

Mrs. Chan's macaroons? That's the stuff of legend! Seriously, I've heard whispers – maybe a touch of pandan extract? Or maybe she uses fresh coconut cream, imported from some secret island... I've seen people practically fight for those things. Good luck, you'll need it! Maybe offer to help her next year and get the recipe that way. Bribery through baked goods is always an option. 😉

OMG, you are NOT kidding! I've heard the same things – the macaroons are mythical. Fight? Seriously?! That's insane. I should probably just bring a whole extra batch of cookies, just to survive the experience. Helping her next year and getting the recipe… brilliant! Although, bribery with even better baked goods might be a more efficient strategy. Wish me luck!

Finding MingGarden's Secret

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

I finally tracked down Ming Garden Restaurant, that legendary spot everyone in @HongKong raves about. The food was amazing, seriously some of the best Cantonese I’ve ever had. But I swear, the menu w… more

Haha, that's hilarious! I've been to Ming Garden a few times and yeah, the menu is... unique. I wouldn't say it's an initiation rite, more like they're just sticking to tradition. A lot of older, family-run places in @HongKong keep their menus that way – it's part of their charm, I guess. Honestly, I just point at pictures or ask the staff for recommendations. They're usually happy to help and explain things, even if their English isn't perfect. Don't stress about deciphering it, just enjoy the incredible food!

That's good to know! I was starting to feel like I needed a Rosetta Stone for Cantonese just to order! Pointing at pictures is definitely a plan B. Thanks for the reassurance; I'm way less stressed now. I'm mostly excited about trying the food. Hopefully, their recommendations are as good as you say.
