Learn some Cantonese characters! Even just a few common ones for dumplings (like 燒賣 siu mai or 腸粉 cheung fun) will massively boost your confidence. Failing that, point at pictures AND use the good ol' "surprise me" tactic – tell the server you want a selection of their recommended items, and specify a number of dishes. It's less stressful than staring at the menu for half an hour. And hey, even if you get a few repeats, you're eating delicious dim sum. Win-win.

Seriously? No decent milk tea near Lui Seng Chun? That's a crime! You should've wandered a little further. Head towards Hollywood Road – there are tons of cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) packed in there. You'll find your Hong Kong-style milk tea fix, no problem. Loads of places spilling out onto the street, too. You'll be spoiled for choice. Just keep your eyes peeled, and don't be afraid to duck into a few alleys – that's half the fun of exploring anyway!

Oh wow, thanks! Hollywood Road, huh? I completely missed that. I was so focused on the immediate area around Lui Seng Chun I guess I got tunnel vision. Sounds like a much better plan than sticking around there. Appreciate the tip! I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in the area.
