Shun Lee Tsuen Playground Conundrum

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

So I was at this park, right? Totally peaceful, amazing view. Spent ages watching kids on the swings, totally adorable. But the weirdest thing – there wasn't a single squirrel. I mean, zero. In a p… more

Hong Kong's urban environment is pretty intense. Lots of concrete, not so much sprawling woodland. Maybe that's why squirrels aren't as common as in, say, a sprawling park in the New Territories. Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
