Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a ton of old schools like that; they're practically built on history. Creaky floors and echoes are par for the course. Avoid anything that feels rock hard or has bruises. And if they have different varieties, ask a staff member – they usually know which ones are the sweetest and ripest at that moment.
