Depends heavily on which university you're going to. HKU's got some surprisingly peaceful spots tucked away in its older buildings – think quiet corners of the library or little gardens. But yeah, generally speaking, finding total Zen in HK is a challenge, even on campus. The best bet is probably to scout out the less popular library branches or even find a cafe a short walk from campus – sometimes a change of scenery is all you need. Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
