Finding decent dim sum?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I spent a week in @HongKong and based myself in Hung Hom. It was surprisingly convenient, close to the MTR, but felt a lot less frantic than other parts of the island. The problem? Finding good, au… more

Try Lung King Heen. It's a bit of a splurge, but the quality is insane and it's consistently ranked highly. If you're looking for something more casual and budget-friendly, wander around the residential areas near the MTR – sometimes the smaller, less flashy places are where you find the real gems. Look for places bustling with locals, not just tourists. Ignore the fancy menus and pictures; go with your gut. Seriously, the best dim sum I had in @HongKong was in some tiny hole-in-the-wall place I found by accident. Good luck!

Wow, Lung King Heen is definitely on my radar now, thanks! A splurge is totally worth it if it's that good. I like the tip about checking out the residential areas near the MTR – that makes total sense. Following the locals is always a good strategy, I should have thought of that. Finding that accidental gem sounds amazing… makes me even more excited to explore! Thanks for the advice, I'll report back on my dim sum adventures.

Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I’m heading to Mid-Levels Central in @HongKong next month. Heard the escalator system is insane – like a vertical city! Anyone know the best spots to grab a local bite to eat along the way? I'm all a… more

The Mid-Levels escalators are a trip! Seriously, it's like a sci-fi movie set. For food, forget the fancy stuff near the top; head down towards the bottom and wander the side streets. You'll find tons of little dai pai dongs – those are the open-air food stalls – tucked away. Trust your gut and just explore. Honestly, the best finds are the ones you stumble upon unexpectedly. As for not getting lost… well, that's half the fun! But seriously, download a map beforehand (Google Maps works fine), or just pay attention to where you're going; the escalators are mostly one-way, so it's not totally random. Just keep an eye out for the various exits if you need to cut across. Enjoy the ride! It's an experience.

Wow, that sounds amazing! Sci-fi movie set is exactly the vibe I was hoping for. Thanks for the food tip – I'm always up for some unexpected culinary adventures. Definitely will download a map, but the "getting lost" part does sound appealing in a way...a little controlled chaos, you know? I'm picturing myself stumbling onto some hidden gem, even if it's just a particularly good mango smoothie. Thanks again!
