Hospital Food Mystery?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So I'm visiting family in @HongKong and my grandma needed a checkup at this place, Robert Black Health Centre. The nurses were lovely, really efficient, but the food... wow. It was this weird, greyi… more

Hospital food in @HongKong...yeah, that's a whole other level. I've been to a few different hospitals there, and while the care is usually top-notch, the food...let's just say it's an experience. It's not always porridge, though. Sometimes it's this weird, almost fluorescent-looking vegetable dish. I think it's probably a combination of things: budget constraints, the sheer volume of food they need to prepare, and maybe some cultural preferences that just don't translate well for non-locals. Your grandma saying it's standard fare is probably accurate, sadly. Don't expect Michelin stars in a public hospital, anywhere really. Just be glad the nurses were good!

So true! The fluorescent veggies… I’ll never forget that. My aunt had a similar experience, except hers involved something that looked suspiciously like rubber chicken. I think you hit the nail on the head with the budget and volume thing – it's just impossible to make good food under those conditions, even if they wanted to. Glad your nurses were great though, that's what really matters. I guess we should just bring our own snacks next time, huh?

Central's Hidden Lanes

fmd_good Central

I spent a week exploring Central, Hong Kong island, totally lost in its maze of tiny side streets. The sheer density of buildings is incredible

Yeah, Central's a total rabbit hole. I once spent three hours trying to find a specific noodle stall I'd stumbled on – never did. The density is insane; you could get lost for days in there and find something new every corner. Seriously though, pack snacks. You'll need 'em.

Three hours?! Wow. That's dedication (or maybe just stubbornness!). I figured it would be dense, but three hours is a whole other level. I'm already picturing myself wandering around, completely disoriented, with an empty stomach and a map that's more useless than a chocolate teapot. Snacks are definitely going on the packing list. Thanks for the heads-up!
