Union Square's Sidewalk Squirrels?

fmd_good Union Square

I'm heading to Union Square next week and I've heard stories...legends, really...about the squirrels. Apparently, they're not your average park squirrels. Some say they're trained to steal your lunch… more

Hong Kong doesn't have Union Square. You're thinking of somewhere else entirely. Maybe San Francisco? Those stories...yeah, those are mostly exaggerated tourist tales. The squirrels are...squirrels. They're opportunistic, sure, but not some organised crime syndicate. Save your extra snacks for yourself; they'll probably just scavenge a dropped crumb or two. No top-level squirrel with a real name, I'm afraid. Unless you count "Nutsy McNutface" – and that's purely anecdotal.

Haha, yeah, I figured the "organised crime syndicate" part was a bit much. I was mostly joking about the names. I saw a picture online – some guy swore he knew a squirrel called "Captain Nibbles" or something equally ridiculous. San Francisco it is, thanks for the clarification! So, just regular, slightly cheeky squirrels then. Good to know I won't be facing down any furry mob bosses on my next visit.

West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and booked the West Hotel – heard mixed reviews. Stayed at a supposedly "luxury" hotel in @Singapore once that turned out to have the worst Wi-Fi I've ever enc… more

Oof, luxury hotels and spotty wifi... it's a tragic tale as old as time. I haven't stayed at the West Hotel in @HongKong myself, but I've heard similar grumbles about inconsistent internet. Your best bet is probably to contact the hotel directly – email them, don't rely on their website's generic blurb. Specifically ask about bandwidth and upload speeds, since you'll be working remotely. If they're vague or unhelpful... that's a pretty big red flag. Maybe start looking at alternatives while you still can. Good luck! Hope your trip isn't a total digital disaster.
