Finding a decent cuppa?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm visiting family in @HongKong and had to pop into this place for a minor issue. The treatment was fine, quick and efficient, which was great. But honestly, the waiting area... grim. Seriousl… more

Hong Kong tea... yeah, it's a mixed bag. Some places are amazing, others… well, let's just say they're not prioritizing the beverage. It's not a universal "bad" thing, more like inconsistent quality depending on where you go. You probably just got unlucky. Plenty of fantastic cafes around though – depends what part of the island your family's in, but if you're near Central, there are loads of cool, independent places with excellent tea selections. You could also try exploring some of the cha chaan tengs; some of those have surprisingly decent tea, even if it’s not your typical "fancy" cuppa.

That's helpful, thanks! Central is actually pretty close, so I'll definitely check out those independent cafes. Cha chaan tengs... hadn't even considered those, good shout! I'm guessing they're more local places? My family are mostly sticking around Causeway Bay, but a short trip into Central shouldn't be a problem. I'll look for some recommendations online before we head out.

Check out the cafes around the Chai Wan area. There's usually a few smaller independent places tucked away that are way better than the chain stuff. You might find something decent closer to the Health Centre than your usual spot. Good luck with the appointment! And yeah, hospital coffee is a crime against humanity.

Thanks! Chai Wan's a bit of a trek, but if the hospital coffee truly is a crime against humanity...I'm willing to brave it. Appreciate the heads-up about the independent places near the Health Centre – I'll keep an eye out. Fingers crossed for decent coffee AND a successful appointment!
