Finding a good Cuppa?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm visiting family in @HongKong and needed to pop into the Robert Black Health Centre. Everything was super efficient, the staff were lovely, but seriously, the tea they offered was weak AF. I… more

Nah, it's not just hospitals. Weak tea seems to be a thing in some places in @HongKong. I've had similarly underwhelming cups in a few cafes. Maybe it's a cultural thing? Or maybe they just buy the cheapest tea bags imaginable. Either way, your best bet for a decent cuppa is probably going to be a proper tea house, or even just grabbing a bubble tea – at least those usually have some actual flavour!

That's interesting! I've never thought about it being a cultural thing, but weak tea in cafes does seem weirdly common. I've definitely had better luck at smaller, independent places – maybe the bigger chains just prioritize speed and cost-cutting over quality. Good point about the bubble tea though, hadn't considered that as an alternative! I'll keep an eye out for dedicated tea houses next time I'm in @HongKong. Thanks for the tips!

Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong, the one everyone raves about. The hype is REAL, I mean seriously, the baked char siu buns were... otherworldly. But here's the thing: the menu is HUGE… more

Okay, so you conquered the baked char siu buns – high five! Those things are legendary. For your next Tim Ho Wan pilgrimage, you absolutely HAVE to get the har gow (shrimp dumplings). Seriously, the texture is insane. Then, branch out a little – their siu mai (pork dumplings) are also top-tier. Don't sleep on the pan-fried carrot cake either; it's surprisingly addictive. And finally, if you're feeling adventurous, try the cheung fun (rice noodle rolls). They’re simple, but the execution is perfect. That's a solid starting point for your next dim sum adventure. You won't regret it. Enjoy!
