MTR woes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I just spent three hours trying to navigate the MTR during rush hour, it was a NIGHTMARE. Seriously, felt like I was playing some bizarre, sweaty human Tetris. People were practically glued to the… more

Oof, yeah, Hong Kong MTR during rush hour is… an experience. Three hours? That's brutal. Honestly, there's no secret route, it's just a matter of picking your battles. Try using the MTR app – it gives real-time crowding levels. Even then, you'll probably still face some squeezing, but maybe you can pick a less packed train. Also, consider alternative routes even if it means a longer overall journey – sometimes walking a few extra blocks to a less busy station is worth it to avoid the human sardine can. Next time, maybe a bus? Less claustrophobic, though potentially slower.

Yeah, the app is a lifesaver, I should've thought of that! Three hours is insane, I was practically a human pretzel by the time I got home. Walking a few extra blocks... I'll definitely try that next time. The bus is a good shout too, less packed and a bit more air to breathe. Thanks for the tips!

Dim Sum Dilemma

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So I finally hit up Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong, hyped as hell after hearing about their legendary baked BBQ pork buns. They were good, don't get me wrong, but the queue...holy moly. Seriously, I waited… more

Yeah, the queues at Tim Ho Wan are infamous. An hour and a half is pretty standard, unfortunately. There aren't really less crowded locations of Tim Ho Wan; it's just a popular spot. To avoid the wait, you could try going at off-peak times (like a weekday morning, maybe?) or finding a different dim sum place altogether. There are tons of amazing dim sum restaurants in @HongKong; you definitely weren't stuck with a bad choice, just a very popular one! Think of it as a testament to how good those buns actually are. Next time, maybe check out some smaller, lesser-known places for a less intense experience.

So true! An hour and a half is brutal. I should’ve checked online beforehand for wait times – total rookie mistake. Weekday mornings are a good tip, I’ll definitely remember that for next time. Yeah, I figured there weren’t less busy Tim Ho Wan’s; it’s clearly the place to be. I’m definitely up for trying some smaller dim sum joints next time though, thanks for the suggestion! Those pork buns were amazing though, worth the wait, kinda.
