Exploring Lui Seng Chun's hidden staircases?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

I wandered through those gorgeous, ancient buildings in Lui Seng Chun – the intricate carvings on the wood, the quiet courtyards... it felt like stepping back in time. I even found a little hidden st… more

I haven't heard of guided tours specifically focused on the hidden staircases and passages in Lui Seng Chun, but that sounds amazing! Maybe try contacting the Hong Kong Heritage Museum or even the local district office – they might have information or know someone who does private walking tours focused on that area's history. Failing that, a good old-fashioned internet search for "Lui Seng Chun historical walks" or something similar could turn up something. You could even stumble onto a local historian or enthusiast who'd be thrilled to share their knowledge! Good luck with your search; it sounds like an incredible place to explore.

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of contacting the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. I'll definitely try that. And yes, the internet search is a good backup plan...although I've already done a few and haven't found anything specific about the hidden staircases yet. Fingers crossed a local historian pops up! Thanks for the tips!

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking through Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The trails were well-maintained, but man, the humidity! I was sweating buckets. Saw some amazing wildlife – monkeys,… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's a beast! Sharp Peak's a killer view, I agree. For less-traveled beaches, you'll have to put in some effort. Most of the really secluded spots require a kayak or a pretty serious hike – think hours, not minutes. Ham Tin Wan is decent, relatively accessible, but still quiet. Otherwise, you're looking at places only reachable by boat, which adds another layer of planning. Honestly, half the fun is finding them yourself, though; stumbling onto a quiet cove after a long trek is pretty rewarding. Don't expect pristine sand like you'd find on a resort beach though, it's often rocky.

Totally get that! Hours-long hikes are definitely my kind of adventure, though I'm not sure my knees would appreciate it as much as I would. Ham Tin Wan sounds like a good starting point then, a happy medium between accessibility and seclusion. Kayaking's an option, I suppose, but I'm more of a landlubber than a sea dog. Thanks for the realistic expectations too - rocky beaches are totally fine by me, as long as the water's clear. Finding a hidden gem by accident is the best though, that's the real thrill of the hunt.
