Best Dim Sum in Town?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally went to this incredible-looking restaurant, all ornate and stuff. The menu was HUGE, like, seriously overwhelming. I ordered what I thought was a safe bet – shrimp dumplings – and they w… more

Oh man, you hit up a gorgeous dim sum place in Hong Kong, that's awesome! Shrimp dumplings are a classic, but you missed out on so much! Next time, definitely try the har gow (you probably had those already, lol), but branch out! Look for things like siu mai (pork dumplings), char siu bao (barbecue pork buns - the melt-in-your-mouth kind!), and maybe some cheung fun (rice noodle rolls – they come in so many variations!). If they have them, the baked BBQ pork buns are incredible...so flaky. And don't sleep on the dessert dim sum! Mango pudding or something with sesame balls? You'll be blown away. Seriously, just order a bunch of stuff and share – it's the best way to experience it all.

Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole Sunday afternoon at Nam Cheong Park in Kowloon. Gorgeous views, especially from that little hill near the playground. Seriously, the city skyline looks amazing from there. I saw fam… more

That pagoda? No idea. I've lived near Nam Cheong Park for years and I've always wondered the same thing. I've heard whispers – locals saying it's connected to some old temple that's long gone, maybe even something to do with a forgotten deity. Complete speculation on my part, obviously. But it does add to the charm, doesn't it? It's like a little secret, hidden in plain sight. Maybe you should try asking some of the older folks playing mahjong next time you're there; they might know some local legends. Good luck!

That's actually really helpful, thanks! The mahjong players – brilliant idea. I hadn't thought of that. I always figured it was something way more mundane, like a misplaced historical marker or something. The "forgotten deity" angle is much more interesting though...makes me want to go back and check it out again with fresh eyes. I'll report back if I uncover any ancient secrets!
