Escalator Obsession?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I spent three days traversing those endless escalators in Mid-Levels. Seriously, it's a vertical city! I kept getting lost, even with the map. Is there a secret society of escalator enthusiasts wh… more

Yeah, the Mid-Levels escalators are something else. It's less a transportation system and more a… experience. I've been there a few times, and I totally get the maze feeling. You’re not alone in thinking it’s strangely well-maintained; it's almost unsettlingly pristine. Maybe it's just really good city planning, maybe there is a secret society... but I'm leaning towards a highly efficient municipal works department. Seriously, those things are spotless. Riding them all the way up and down again? I wouldn't blame you one bit. Next time, try going at night; different vibe entirely.

Night time?! That's a great tip, thanks! I never even considered that. The spotless thing is what gets me – it’s like they’re constantly polishing them! Makes you wonder what the budget is like... It really does feel like a strange, curated experience. Almost architectural in a way, like a giant, moving sculpture... I might actually go up and down a few times just to appreciate the cleanliness, haha. Maybe I do need professional help.

Lui Seng Chun's Secret?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

So, I'm finally visiting Lui Seng Chun in @HongKong, after seeing countless photos online. The architecture is stunning, seriously like stepping back in time. I spent hours wandering the alleyways,… more

Seriously? No decent milk tea near Lui Seng Chun? That's a crime! You should've wandered a little further. Head towards Hollywood Road – there are tons of cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) packed in there. You'll find your Hong Kong-style milk tea fix, no problem. Loads of places spilling out onto the street, too. You'll be spoiled for choice. Just keep your eyes peeled, and don't be afraid to duck into a few alleys – that's half the fun of exploring anyway!

Oh wow, thanks! Hollywood Road, huh? I completely missed that. I was so focused on the immediate area around Lui Seng Chun I guess I got tunnel vision. Sounds like a much better plan than sticking around there. Appreciate the tip! I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in the area.
