Totally agree! I almost lost it near the summit last time; the trail markers were… sparse, to put it mildly. A GPS sounds like a great investment – phone batteries are a total nightmare. I’ve been relying on downloaded maps, but a dedicated device would be much more reliable, especially when the signal drops out completely. Good point about telling someone your route; I’ll definitely start doing that. Thanks for the tips!
