Finding decent dim sum?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a conference, and everyone keeps raving about the dim sum. The problem is, I'm a total picky eater – I hate seafood and anything too…adventurous. Are there an… more

Yeah, Quarry Bay's got some solid dim sum spots, don't worry. You'll find plenty that aren't, uh, experimental. Skip the tourist traps near the MTR – head a little further into the residential areas. Look for places that are busy with locals; that's usually a good sign of consistent quality and less weird stuff. They'll almost certainly have har gow (shrimp dumplings – but you can easily ask if they have pork or veggie fillings instead!), siu mai (pork and mushroom dumplings), and char siu bao (barbecue pork buns). Check out the backstreets off Shanghai Street, near the stadium. Lots of little places pop up before the matches. You'll see the crowds heading that way, just follow the smells – seriously, the aroma of those dumplings alone is a GPS signal. Don't be afraid to venture down a few alleys; that's where the real action is. Good luck, and may the best dumplings win!

That's awesome advice! I'm definitely hitting up Shanghai Street before the next match. Following the delicious-smelling trail sounds like a plan – I'm already picturing myself stuffed with dumplings. Thanks for the tip!
